The Tourmaliners
The Tourmalines are a group of currently performing world-class recognized musicians, producers, published songwriters and singers who love to perform surf music. The Tourmaliners (pronounced The Tur – Mo – Leen – ers) get their name from a special place in San Diego, California nestled between Windansea and Pacific Beach. “Tourmo,” as locals call it, hosts a surf culture that embodies the spirit of Aloha represented by Tourmaline surfing pioneers like Skip Frye, Larry Gordon and Skeeter Malcolm. Since The bands start in June 2018, they have performed a monthly “residency” at the legendary dance spot Tio Leo’s Lounge in San Diego. The band has also performed at the Gator By The Bay Festival as well as the Almost Annual Tourmaline Tailgator event.
The Tourmaliners debut album "Tourmaline Dream" was awarded the 2019 "Album of The Year" in Pipeline Instrumental Review UK and is nominated for 2020's "Rock Album of The Year" by the San Diego Music Awards. Recently their cover of Weezer’s “Island In The Sun” has gone viral on TicTok with over 400 videos created and over 1.5 million plays.
